Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United American. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001, and shortly after, she left the company. Corcoran has participated in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. As of February 2020 she had signed 53 deals. One of them was a purchase of $350,000 for Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was the second child of 10 kids born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. became her father throughout Corcoran’s childhood. Sometimes, the family relied upon deliveries of food that was free from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as a man who occasionally drank too much and treated her mother with disrespect and condescension, particularly when he was drinking. Corcoran was a struggle in school and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran began in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended an Catholic primary school. After flunking several courses during her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School, where she was a D-student when she graduated.
